My work began out of simply wanting to make an offering to family and friends in a gift setting. Always needing their hand or their heart to somehow be involved in the process. So that something of them, of their story, would be remembered in the figure. The work has always started with a given, something already with meaning. Here are three examples.

Echohawk

In naive, early days I was curious about how a silver wire would melt in the flame of a large welding torch. It quickly ended up as frozen puddles on the floor. And yet one small portion held our attention, eventually becoming a wearable. (Pin/pendant)

Muddpearl

On a birthday walk, a persimmon calyx in the dirt caught my eye just before it went under foot, later evolving as a gift in memory of that day. (Pendant)

Ol Fox

This, inspired by a dying foxglove from a dear friend's garden caught before it returned to earth. Some aspect of it later remembered in silver. (Pendant)
